Disability Support Worker

About the role

We're looking for casual Disability Support Workers to join our team in Newcastle, with most shifts based around our homes in Gateshead and Argenton. The majority of this work supports Individualised Living Options (ILO) participants — people who have chosen how and where they live, and want support that fits around their life rather than the other way around.

This role suits someone who is genuinely patient and enjoys building a proper relationship with the people they support. Our ILO participants are working towards their own goals, so a lot of the job is encouragement, consistency and turning up as someone they can rely on.

• check_circleDomestic assistance around the home, including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation and grocery shopping
• check_circleProviding support in line with each participant's support plan
• check_circleHelping participants work towards the goals set out in their NDIS plan
• check_circleHelping organise day-to-day life — routines, appointments, reminders and general structure
• check_circleEncouraging participation in daily activities and building independence at the participant's own pace
• check_circleProviding emotional support and genuine companionship

• check_circleNDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain one before starting)
• check_circleNDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate — "Quality, Safety and You"
• check_circleCurrent First Aid and CPR certificates
• check_circleValid Australian driver's licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle (we pay a kilometre allowance for participant travel)
• check_circleThe right to work in Australia
• check_circleReliability and good communication — participants depend on shifts being covered

• check_circleCertificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or equivalent
• check_circlePrevious experience supporting NDIS participants, particularly in ILO or SIL settings
• check_circleWorking with Children Check
• check_circleExperience with positive behaviour support plans

• check_circle12% superannuation paid on top of your hourly rate
